Satellite internet provider Starlink has reduced the prices of its hardware kits in Zimbabwe for a limited period, though the promotion does not extend to Harare and Bulawayo due to capacity.
According to details published this week, the Starlink Mini kit has dropped from US$200 to US$160, while the Standard kit has been reduced from US$380 to US$300. The promotion is expected to run for one month and applies only to customers outside the two largest cities, where capacity is already constrained.
Ordering online comes with delays, as deliveries typically take several weeks due to shipping and customs processes.
Local Retailer Offering Kits
For customers who prefer to buy locally, Shona Prince Technologies, an authorized Starlink reseller, has also announced a price promotion. The company is selling:
-
The Mini kit for US$200
The Standard kit for US$320
Unlike online purchases, Shona Prince allows cash-and-carry collection. However, prices remain slightly higher than Starlink’s direct discounts.
Starlink was officially approved in Zimbabwe in 2024 and has quickly gained popularity as a reliable alternative to traditional internet service providers. Its high-speed satellite service has been especially attractive in rural areas where connectivity options remain limited.
Demand in urban centres, however, has put pressure on Starlink’s capacity. Harare and Bulawayo are currently listed as sold out zones, making it impossible for new users in those areas to purchase or activate kits for residential use.
