Parents preparing to send their children to secondary school next year can now apply for Form One boarding school places online.

The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education has activated its Electronic Ministry Application Platform (eMAP), allowing parents and guardians to submit applications for the 2027 Form One intake.

What do you need to apply for 2027 Form One places?

Before starting the application process, parents should have the learner's Grade Seven examination details available.

You will need the following information to create an eMAP account:

  • Examination centre number: The number identifying the primary school examination centre where the learner wrote their Grade Seven examinations.
  • Candidate number: The individual examination number assigned to the learner.
  • Date of birth: The learner's date of birth as recorded in their examination details.
  • Mobile phone number: A working phone number belonging to the parent or guardian for receiving application notifications.

Make sure the examination details are correct. Incorrect information could prevent the system from identifying the learner during registration.

How many schools can you apply to?

The eMAP platform allows parents to select boarding schools they would like their children to attend.

Parents can apply to a maximum of five schools. These can be schools located in different provinces and districts across Zimbabwe.

When selecting schools, consider more than just their academic reputation. Look at their location, fees, boarding facilities and whether they are suitable for your child.

It is also important to remember that submitting an application does not guarantee a place. Schools consider applications based on their admission requirements and the number of available places.

How will you know if your child has been accepted?

Parents will receive SMS notifications when a school makes an offer. You can also log into your eMAP account to check the progress of applications.

Pay particular attention when your child receives an offer.

Accepting an offer from one school automatically cancels the learner's other pending applications. Declining an offer is also a final decision, as the place may be offered to another applicant.

Parents should therefore think carefully before accepting or declining a school placement.
